Garth Brooks Admits to Lip-Syncing During CMA Awards

Garth Brooks admitted to a lip-syncing during the CMA Awards and is getting a lot of heat from fans and fellow performers.

CMA Entertainer of The Year, Garth Brooks, confessed to lip-syncing during his CMA performance. He explained that he is performing 12 shows in 10 days and didn’t want to sing something that would be less than his best.

Naturally, the vocal chords do need recovery time, especially when doing so many performances in a row.  Brooks even sounded appreciative toward the CMAs for allowing him to do the lip sync. But, not everyone was so forgiving of this decision.

Even after praising Miranda Lambert, she responded following his performance. She supported her boyfriend when he tweeted:

Lambert added in the comments, “High five on this babe. If you can’t sing then don’t. It’s better to be honest than to pretend. I think it’s [expletive].”

Fans have mixed emotions with Brook’s announcement and many doubt that he should have won the “Entertainer of the Year” award. (Click here to see a complete list of the winners.)

One fan recorded this video of Brooks performance, calling him out, and generated a viral response.

Yet, Brooks openly offered the explanation of lip-syncing during the backstage press conference, without being prompted by any reporters or responding to any social media attacks. He brought up the subject on his own.

As for now, it seems that while he is still getting heat for his lip-syncing performance, Brooks is hitting the road for his tours. Find a complete list of his tour locations and dates here.
