2017 Music Biz Awards Candidates

Famed country stars Reba McEntire and Maren Morris to receive honors at this year’s Music Biz Awards taking place in Nashville, Tennessee on May 18th.

For Sustained Creative Achievement, McEntire is the selection of choice for the Music Biz Awards event. Sing It Now: Songs of Faith & Hope will bring to light the country icon’s first ever gospel album. The two-disc collection includes 10 of her prized hymns along with 10 contemporary Christian works. McEntire will be the first female country artist to win the Chairman’s Award for the category mentioned above since the events establishment back in 1964.

The magnitude of this award, “honors immensely talented artists whose creative contributions truly stand the test of time and keep evolving…Reba fully embodies the essence of the Chairman’s Award,” Fred Beteille, the chairman of the Music Business Association’s board of directors shares in a press release.

Music Biz

Morris will have a different story. Being one of two artists, she will receive the Music Business Association’s Breakthrough Artist Award with Danish pop band Lukas Graham winning the second. Morris’ big debut album of 2016 Hero, released at the joy of fan acclaim. It landed top of the Billboard country chart. Noted also for her number of CMA, Grammys and ACM nominations, Morris is a decorated artist in her own right.

Recognition will also be made to known country singers Adele, Paula Abdul and the original Broadway cast of the musical Hamilton at the 2017 Music Biz Awards. The event will run May 15-18. More details at https://musicbiz.org/events/music-biz-2017/.
